Ubisoft has postponed the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows at the last minute to next year. Instead of its originally scheduled release on November 15, 2024, the game will now launch on February 14, 2025.
The delay is reportedly due to the desire to polish the action role-playing game to perfection, avoiding a repeat of the Star Wars Outlaws situation. According to Ubisoft, they’ve learned from the less-than-stellar launch of the Star Wars title and admitted that the game's initial sales did not meet the company’s expectations.
Additionally, the publisher is moving away from the unpopular season pass and early access models for Deluxe editions of its games. Players who pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows will have their money automatically refunded. New pre-orders will come with the game’s first story expansion as a bonus.
Finally, Ubisoft announced a full return to Steam. From now on, all of the publisher's titles will release on Valve's platform at the same time as Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, macOS and Amazon Luna’s cloud gaming service.
