The original Hogwarts Legacy, released last winter, achieved remarkable success, selling 30 million copies according to Warner Bros. The sequel is now in development, with the studio marking it as a top priority.
David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, shared that the storyline of Hogwarts Legacy 2 will intersect with events in the upcoming series. He added that the game's commercial success signaled to the company the need for rapid franchise expansion.
The Harry Potter series from HBO is expected to premiere in 2026 and is currently in pre-production. A few weeks ago, Warner Bros. announced the start of casting for the main roles. The series will focus more closely on events from the books, and the episodic format will allow the studio to avoid time constraints and explore the Wizarding World in greater detail.
It’s still too early to discuss gameplay details for Hogwarts Legacy 2, but according to insiders, the new game might introduce exciting mechanics such as a romance system, house points, and a morality system affecting wizard students' reputations.
Additionally, Rocksteady Studios is working on a more complete director's cut of Hogwarts Legacy. While waiting for the sequel, fans can play the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy or Harry Potter Quidditch Champions.
