Dan Clancy believes Kick is making a mistake by trying to lure streamers from Twitch…
As you all probably know, for about two years now the new livestreaming platform Kick has continued to attract top Twitch streamers already having an army of fans. For example, have moved there such famous streamers as Felix “xQc” Lengyel, Adin Ross, Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, Hikaru Nakamura, Corinna Kopf, Roshtein, etc.
Just recently, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy stated in an interview with NateGentile7 that he believed Kick was making a mistake by attracting major Twitch streamers rather than developing its platform. Also, he said that large players would eventually return to Twitch.
Kick has money, he believes, but the question is about long-term stability. Dan added that TikTok isn't trying to take streamers from Twitch after all, they're just bringing new people into streaming.
Clancy thinks that once Kick stops paying them, they'll come back. Because that’s what happened before with Mixer and YouTube. So according to him instead of worrying about competition, Twitch is focused on adding features that will help their streamers develop.
Here it is necessary to remember that really in previous years Twitch added more new features. And today streamers allow to share their content on both Twitch and short video platforms such as TikTok and Instagram reels. There are Stories and a feed for discovering new streamers to watch.
We don’t know how the fight between Kiсk and Twitch will end, but there is a sound grain in Clancy’s reasoning. This entertainment industry needs fair competition. And if everyone qualitatively develops their platform, then the streamers themselves will choose the livestreaming service to their liking...
