Minecraft's official PS5 version has a release date, and a Swedish developer has confirmed it…
Recently, Mojang Studios has introduced the PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft. Now, users of Sony's console will be able to survive in the blocky world in 4K resolution and 60 FPS. The update will become available on October 22, 2024.
The developers noted that those who have purchased Minecraft for PlayStation 4 will receive the patch for PS5 for free. Additionally, the native version for PlayStation 5 will support cross-play with versions of the game on other platforms.
As stated on the Minecraft Official Site: “That’s right! In a little over a month, you’ll be able to play the release version of Minecraft for PS5, optimized to take advantage of the console’s more powerful hardware. This means your game will have a greater render distance while still being 4k resolution and 60 fps, allowing you to take in even more frames and pixels while running from Endermen in the Overworld. Delightful!”
Interestingly, no update is planned yet for Microsoft's own console, the Xbox Series, which owns Minecraft. While the game has received updates since the release of the Xbox Series, Minecraft on Xbox technically still runs via backward compatibility with Xbox One.
Earlier this month, the long-awaited Minecraft movie adaptation received its first official trailer. However, fans were not thrilled with the film and gave the trailer over a million dislikes on YouTube.
Additionally, Microsoft recently announced plans to introduce an AI assistant into Minecraft. The AI assistant, based on Copilot, will be designed to help new players master the game's mechanics.
P.S. This is good news for PS5 Minecraft fans. Better performance is cool! Also, after a few weeks, the Swedish video game developer is set to air a new Minecraft Live show...
