Ninja criticized cancel culture on Twitch

Recently, Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins spoke about the current trends in the streaming industry. He argued that 'cancel culture' has become rampant. He made a poignant comment, reminiscing: "Remember when we used to just play video games?"

These remarks followed the Sketch scandal, where explicit images of the streamer were posted on social media.

Usually, a streamer is discovered to have said something controversial, leading to relentless online criticism and forcing them to step back from their passion due to community backlash.

Does Ninja mean it during a recent stream? "Seems like people are looking to cancel anyone and everyone at all times. Every day, it is something, it is someone. Someone’s getting cancelled, or trying to, for something. Social media and Twitch right now, it’s just so stupid".

Unfortunately, this is the modern world of streaming, top streamers are now known more for their scandals and hype than their gameplay skills.

"Social media and Twitch right now, and streaming, it is so stupid. Someone does something suspicious, something sus… a million people post it on the internet and everyone’s giving their opinions that nobody asked for", Ninja added in his July stream.

Look like today, viewers appear to be much more interested in the ideas and beliefs of a streamer rather than their on-stream activities.

That's why streaming may become even more segmented and niche, or it might evolve past the legacies of streamers like Tyler Blevins. This possibility seems confusing to many, including Ninja himself.

Whether he's right or not, we'll see. Well, with 19 million followers, he can afford such statements. But Ninja mentioned during a stream that he estimates he has anywhere from one to five years left on Twitch...
