PlayStation will not release major titles until 2025

Speaking to investors after the release of its quarterly report, Sony Group president Hiroki Totoki said that PlayStation has no plans to release major titles in existing franchises until the end of March 2025…

Totoki stated that major PlayStation-branded games are now in active development. In other words, the Death Stranding sequel and new installments of the notional Spider-Man and God of War won't appear until April 2025 at the earliest.

That doesn't mean there won't be any games at all. Rather, Sony will likely contract temporary exclusives, new IPs, smaller projects, and remakes and remasters. Perhaps a couple of service games will launch in the coming year.

Also, Hiroki stated that PlayStation continues to make high-quality works and service games.

Against this backdrop, the Sony Group head added that the company expects sales of exclusive games for PlayStation consoles to decline. The same goes for the device sales forecasts. But third-party games will provide the gradual growth of the PS5 base and audience engagement…
